First of all, I’m going to explain my high school: MONTSERRAT COLOMER. Obviously I don’t like it for the only reason that it is a high school, and high school is a synonym of study, nobody likes studying. Apart from that, my high school is GOOD! There’s a main building with all the classrooms, library, laboratory…Another building with the school canteen, the gym and the changing rooms. And three barracks with other classrooms.
HISTORY AND ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM
Regarding its history, it was created in 2006, and it’s the only high school in my village. Now, our high school has around 400 students and 50 teachers. Apart from this, the current administrative team of our school is the following:

TIMETABLE
Our timetable is from 8.00 a.m to 14.30 p.m. In fact, we have got six lessons every morning and two breaks at 10.00 (20 minutes) and at 12.20 (10 minutes). Our lessons last for 60 minutes. Here we have an example of our timetable:
SUBJECTS AT SCHOOL
Probably most of the subjects we do in our high school are similar as yours but well, I’m going to explain a little about them:
- BIOLOGY: in biology we often go to the laboratory and we investigate cells in the microscope and open lungs and hearts.
- ETHICS: in ethics we watch films about bulling or racism and we talk about it.
- SOCIAL SCIENCE: in social science we study history and geography.
- LANGUAGES: We study Catalan, Spanish, English and French as an optional subject.
- TUTORIAL: in tutorial we often talk about the problems that happen during the week or the teacher allows us to do our homework
- TECHNOLOGY: in technology we do theory classes or practice classes. In theory classes the teacher only explains the uses of the tools and things like this, and in practice classes we go to the workshop and we draw plans, among other things.
-P.E.: We play different games and work in abilities such as “strength.”SPECIAL ACTIVITIES
Apart from lessons, we also do funny things, sometimes we have to work, but we have fun too. Here we are going to show you some of the most important ones:
1) SKIING: The students of our course go three days to the mountains to learn how to ski or snow. We go to he Pyrenees!
2) FRENCH EXCHANGE: It takes place in the second term and we do a Exchange with a school in Champniers.
3) GERMAN EXCHANGE: We do the exchange in Spring with your town: Althengstett.
4) END-OF-THE YEAR TRIP: The students that finish compulsory education (16 years old) go to Italy and spend 5 days there visiting different parts of the country.
5) CARNIVAL: a very funny celebration, every class chooses a costume and they have to dance in front of the other students.
6) SANT JORDI: a Catalan tradition where we send roses and books to our lovers.
OUR ACADEMIC YEAR AND HOLIDAY PERIODS
Basically, we have three long holiday periods:
1) Christmas’ time: from 22nd December to 7th January (approx.)
2) Easter: from 8th April to 18th.
3) Summer Time: from 20th June to 12th September (approx.)
AND WHAT IS THE BEST ABOUT OUR SCHOOL?
Last but not least, the best thing about my high school is the surroundings, because we can see the forest from all the classrooms, and we feel a little bit free. Apart from this, it is nice to have your friends near and to learn things every day!
